Mentholatum breathes easier with Denca PLC

TTSDenca are to work in association with Thermal Transfer, the leading UK provider of turnkey design and build solutions for the pharmaceuticals industry, to complete a significant project for healthcare products company, Mentholatum.

Involving the creation of a new manufacturing plant at Mentholatum’s Glasgow site, Denca will take responsibility for all control system work, including panel build and installation, software testing, verification and commissioning.

Working to a design document completed in October 2008, the Denca solution will comprise: Siemens S7 PLC, 4 x I/O racks, SCADA, 6 x HMI display stations, as well as motor-control for all pumps and drives. The system will also incorporate all necessary hazardous area barriers. Siemens S7 PLC was chosen for real-time performance, considerable communications options and easy operation.

Adds Denca joint managing director, Alan Brennan, “Over recent years, Denca have designed, built and commissioned a number of PLC control systems for Thermal Transfer, the most recent project involving purified Water For Injection on behalf of Novartis. It is, therefore, extremely rewarding to be recognised for our expertise and to receive this additional contract.”
